LX Group Awards ‘LX Science Fellowship’ Scholarships
- Identifying and nurturing next-generation talent in fundamental science - Award of scholarships to two graduate students in statistics and chemistry LX Group is laying the foundation for future innovation by supporting fundamental research. On the 28th, LX Group selected the first recipients of the “LX Science Fellowship” and held an award ceremony at the College of Natural Sciences, Seoul National University. The event was attended by Bon-jun Koo, Chairman of LX Group; Jin-hyuk Kim, Chief Human Resources Officer (CHO) of LX Holdings; Jae-jun Yoo, Dean of the College of Natural Sciences at Seoul National University; and Jeom-shik Hwang, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs. It was also noted that the presence of Professor Emeritus Myung-hoe Huh of Korea University and former ETRI President Myung-joon Kim —both of whom studied alongside Chairman Koo at Seoul National University—added special significance to the occasion. The “LX Science Fellowship” is a tailored scholarship program for undergraduate students, graduate students, and program completers affiliated with the College of Natural Sciences at Seoul National University. In line with Chairman Bon-jun Koo’s vision, it aims to identify and nurture outstanding next-generation talent in fundamental science who will lead future advancements in science and technology. The selected fellows are Sun-min Oh, a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Statistics, and Kyung-ho Ham, a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Chemistry, who are conducting research on causal structure learning and redox-active phosphine compounds, respectively. During the event, Chairman Koo engaged in discussions with faculty members and graduate students at Seoul National University on their research topics, emphasizing the importance of fundamental research in shaping the future technological competitiveness of the nation and society. LX Group and Seoul National University plan to further strengthen their collaboration and continue their efforts to foster research talent in fundamental science. Chairman Bon-jun Koo of LX Group stated, “The foundation of innovation in science and technology lies in the spirit of challenge and creative research capabilities of young researchers,” adding, “we will continue to provide unwavering support through the LX Science Fellowship so that the next generation of leaders in science and technology can grow.” (End)
